Wheatland Fireplace, Kitchen and Bath, bringing warmth to our community this festive season.
As Christmas draws near, children all over Saskatoon and Regina are writing out their wish lists and preparing for a visit from Santa — but for children in need, the holiday season can sometimes be more stressful than joyful.
Enter the StarPhoenix and Leader-Post Plush Bear Program, in its 8th year with a goal of collecting and distributing teddy bears to kids in crisis in Regina and Saskatoon.
Coordinated through the advertising department of Post Media, the program donates stuffed bears to local charities that deal closely with children in crisis. In Regina, they work with the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region for distribution through the Regina General Hospital and local Emergency Medical Units (EMS). This year’s batch of donated stuffies in Saskatoon will be distributed on to the Boys & Girls Club of Saskatoon, MD Ambulance, Crisis Nursery and CUMFI
The bears help give a sense of normalcy to children who may be forced to celebrate Christmas away from home or without their families in hospital- or those who would otherwise get very few, if any, gifts.
Donations to the campaign come from Saskatoon and Regina residents and businesses that were given the opportunity to buy an ad for publication in a special section of the Christmas edition of The StarPhoenix and The Leader-Post on December 21st, 2018.
Wheatland Fireplace, Kitchen and Bath are proud to support the 2018 Plush Bear campaign in both Saskatoon and Regina
