Seventy Inches of Fire with Single-Pane Radiant Heat

The Widest Urbana, Built for Radiant Heat

The screened build of the Urbana U70 keeps the 70" by 20" seamless glass opening and 52,500 BTUs, but uses single-pane glass with safety screens included instead of the double-glass assembly — which puts more radiant heat directly into the room. It ships with the painted liner, steel bezel and vermiculite on natural gas with IPI ignition, plus the top lighting kit. For a large open Saskatchewan main floor where you want the fireplace to be felt from across the room, this is the configuration to look at. Supplied and installed province-wide by Wheatland Fireplace.

FAQ

1. Why choose the screened version over the double-glass U70?
More radiant heat. Single-pane glass transmits heat directly rather than buffering it through a second layer — the screens handle the surface temperature. If you want the fireplace to warm the room rather than just fill the wall, this is the one.
2. Do the screens interrupt the view?
They are fine mesh across a very large opening, so less than you would think — but if a completely unbroken 70-inch view is the goal, the double-glass build is the better choice.
3. Does this version have the colour LEDs?
No — this build has the steel bezel and vermiculite with the top lighting kit. The LED ember bed is on the separate LED configuration.
4. What room does a U70 belong in?
Great rooms, open main floors and large feature walls. In a standard-size living room it will dominate — and in a large one it is spectacular.
5. How early should we plan it in?
Before framing. The rough opening, vent route and finish need to be coordinated, and that is a paper exercise if we are involved early.
