Double glass means no safety screen is required, so the fire runs edge to edge with nothing in front of it. This build adds adjustable ember bed colour LED lighting and clear glass media, giving you a fireplace that works as a light feature in summer and a heat source in January, plus the painted liner and top lighting kit. 1. How do the colour LEDs work?
They light the ember bed independently of the flame, with adjustable colour and brightness. The WiFi control runs on a 2.4 GHz connection and will not operate on 5.0 GHz — worth knowing before install day.
2. Is the U50 a real heater or just a feature?
Both, unusually. At 38,000 BTUs and 67.7% efficiency it is the strongest performer in the Urbana line, while still giving you a 50-inch seamless linear fire.
3. What is the difference from the standard U50?
This build adds the colour LED ember bed and clear glass media. The standard U50 has the steel bezel and vermiculite instead. Same firebox and output.
4. Can it be installed in a corner?
Yes — a corner install kit is available, along with one-sided and framing base kits. We confirm the configuration before ordering.
5. When should you be involved in the project?
Before framing. Linear fireplaces need the rough opening, venting and finish planned together, and that is much easier to do on paper than in drywall.
