Three-Sided Design with Single-Pane Glass and Screens

The Three-Sided U30, Built Around Single-Pane Glass

The screened build of the Urbana U30 keeps the three-sided shape and the seamless top-to-bottom glass, but uses a single pane with safety screens included rather than the double-glass assembly. Single-pane glass radiates more heat directly into the room, and the screens handle the surface temperature — a trade that suits rooms where you want the fire to be felt as well as seen. It runs 22,500 BTUs on natural gas with IPI ignition, and ships with the painted liner, steel bezel, vermiculite and top lighting kit. Supplied and installed across Saskatchewan by Wheatland Fireplace.

FAQ

1. Screened or double glass — what is the real difference?
Double glass keeps the outer pane cooler, so no screen is needed and the view is completely clear. Single pane with screens puts more radiant heat into the room. Look at both in the showroom; people usually know immediately which they prefer.
2. Do the screens spoil the look?
Less than you would expect — they are fine mesh on a three-sided unit that is mostly glass. But if an unbroken view is the point of the fireplace, the double-glass U30 is the one to buy.
3. Is it warmer than the double-glass version?
Same 22,500 BTU input, but more of the heat radiates directly through the single pane rather than being buffered by a second layer of glass.
4. Can it be installed as a room divider?
Yes — that is the natural home for a three-sided unit. Framing, venting and finish all need planning, so bring us in before the wall is built.
5. Do you install Urbana outside Saskatoon and Regina?
Yes, across the whole province.
