The U44, Built for Outside

The Urbana U44 Outdoor takes the 42-inch clean-face firebox outdoors — 41" wide by 36" tall of glass, 63,000 BTUs on natural gas or 71,000 on propane, and the 3D stainless steel burner — and removes the hardest part of the installation: it requires no venting at all. A steel weather cover is included to protect it out of season, and it operates from a wall switch. For a covered patio, an outdoor room or a poolside wall in a Saskatchewan summer, this is the fireplace that makes the space usable well into the fall. 1. Does it really need no venting?
Correct — it is designed for open-air installation, which removes the vent run that usually dictates where an outdoor fireplace can go.
2. Can it go on a covered patio?
Usually yes, but clearances above and around matter a great deal outdoors. We assess the structure before quoting.
3. Does it run on propane?
Yes — 71,000 BTUs on LP against 63,000 on natural gas, so it suits acreages and lake properties as well as city gas lines.
4. What protects it in winter?
A steel weather cover is included. We will walk you through end-of-season shutdown at handover.
5. Is a safety screen available?
